The Aztecs had a large pantheon of deities. Each related to an aspect of life in the Aztec cosmology. The Aztecs did not love their deities like Abrahamic religions profess. The Aztecs feared their deities and felt indebted to them. It was vital for their deities to be given regular sacrifices. Otherwise, their world would come to an end. The only people that were not indebted to their gods, were the ones who died at birth before receiving any sustenance from the earth and sun.
